Female doctor seriously injured in acid attack in Quetta hospital

A female doctor was seriously injured when an unidentified man threw acid on her at a hospital in Quetta on Saturday, with the chief minister taking notice of the incident directing the police high-ups to take immediate action to arrest the culprit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Dr Mahnoor was on her routine duty in surgical ward of the Civil Hospital when the man targeted her with acid and fled. Another man standing near the doctor was also injured in the attack.

The injured doctor was rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

A police team led by DIG Quetta Imran Shaukat rushed to the hospital and launched an investigation into the incident.

DIG Shaukat said the accused will face full force of the law as attack on female doctor was intolerable.

Several police team have been formed and scope to hunt down the accused has been widened but so far the cops failed to establish the motive behind the attack.

DIG Shaukat said they have decided to further beef up the security in the hospital as nobody would be allowed to take law into his hand.

The police said the operation to hunt down the accused would continue until the arrest is made.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti took notice of the incident and sought a report from the high-ups.

Assistant to the CM Shahid Rind informed that the female doctor has been shifted to Arya Institute of Medical Sciences in Quetta for better treatment and if need arises an air ambulance is on stand by to shift the doctor to Karachi.

Shahid Rind said the incident was being probed from every angle and the process to identify the accused was accelerated with the help of the CCTV footages.

He said the chief minister has ordered the arrest of the accused at the earliest.
