Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s father, Azam Siddique, has once again spoken in defense of his son following his exclusion from the national T20 squad.
Expressing his disappointment, Siddique highlighted Babar’s achievements and assured fans that he would reclaim his spot through strong performances in domestic cricket.
Taking to social media platform X, Siddique pointed out that despite Babar being named in the ICC T20 Team of the Year and receiving the prestigious cap, he was still overlooked for selection. He remained optimistic about his son’s future, stating, "Babar will make his way back into the team by excelling in the National T20 and PSL."
Siddique also urged former cricketers to be mindful of their criticism, warning that responses to harsh remarks might not be easy to handle. "You are the past, you will not play again," he remarked, defending his son against constant scrutiny.
Addressing those who question his frequent public statements, Siddique clarified, "People say I speak too much, but I am Babar’s first and last coach, his mentor, and his biggest well-wisher." He further challenged critics to reflect on their own playing careers before passing judgment.
Encouraging sceptics to look at PCB’s official records, Siddique hinted that Babar’s statistics speak for themselves.
Pakistan recently announced its squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against New Zealand. While Babar secured a place in the ODI squad, he was excluded from the T20 lineup, sparking debates among fans and experts.
