Sharifullah, who has been charged by the U.S. Department of Justice for his alleged role in aiding deadly attacks, is set to appear in a Virginia court on March 5, according to U.S. officials.
The charges stem from his confession to the FBI, in which he admitted to assisting in the planning of the Kabul airport bombing.
Authorities claim he guided the suicide bomber, Abdul Rahman, to the attack route while also monitoring U.S. and Afghan security checkpoints.
In addition to his alleged role in the Kabul attack, the investigation linked Sharifullah to an attack on a Russian city hall in Kirov. He also reportedly admitted to assisting in several other attacks, though details remain classified.
If convicted, Sharifullah could face a life sentence for his involvement in these acts of terrorism. U.S. authorities continue to investigate his connections to extremist networks and his role in orchestrating past attacks.
