Pakistan has made significant progress in the field of cyber security, successfully thwarting cyber attacks originating from India, Israel and other foreign countries, according to officials from the National Computer Emergency Response Team.

Officials said the National CERT has developed modern security software to strengthen the country’s cyber defence capabilities. As part of these efforts, the organization has created an Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) antivirus system designed to detect and prevent cyber threats in real time.

According to National CERT officials, the EDR software has already been installed in government computer systems across the country. The system enables timely detection and prevention of hacking attempts and cyber attacks targeting government networks and sensitive data.

Authorities added that testing is also underway to expand the system’s capabilities by installing the EDR application on mobile phones, which will further enhance cyber protection across official communication platforms.

Officials revealed that effective actions are being taken against websites and online content considered anti-Pakistan. In addition, social media accounts spreading anti-state material are being closely monitored to prevent cyber threats and misinformation.

To strengthen monitoring and response mechanisms, the National CERT has also established a dedicated cyber security control room. From this facility, experts monitor hacking attempts and cyber attacks around the clock.

Officials said the 24-hour monitoring system will help ensure faster detection of threats and a more coordinated response to cyber incidents, further strengthening Pakistan’s digital security infrastructure.
