Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered to clear all flood zones within three months, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a special meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz regarding post-flood arrangements in Lahore on Friday, she ordered to ensure implementation of the ban on construction in river channels.
Maryam Nawaz said those who build illegal constructions in waterways will not get government assistance.
The Chief Minister directed strict monitoring to check illegal constructions along waterways.
The meeting agreed on proposal to build mini dams at 17 places in Punjab.
Feasibility report for building dam in Chiniot is completed and in this regard approval has been given.
Addressing the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said chapter of constructions in riverbed is being closed forever.
In this regard, officials of relevant departments gave detailed briefing in the meeting.
Chief Minister directed to introduce inflatable dam technology.
The meeting also decided to increase capacity of water reservoirs at Kala Bagh and Sadhanai sites.
The meeting also decided to restructure PDMA and build 8 new wings.
The meeting approved that Rescue 1122 will be provided with latest equipment for flood operations.
The meeting decided to purchase 10 landing craft fleets, boat carrier truck and navigation.
The meeting also decided to purchase communication equipment, flying life jackets and other equipment.
