Authorities on Thursday closed several roads leading to the Red Zone in Islamabad due to security concerns, the Islamabad Traffic Police announced.

According to the traffic police, entry into the Red Zone will only be allowed through Margalla Road and the route near the Marriott Hotel, while all other access points will remain closed.

Officials said that Kulsoom Plaza on Fazal Haq Road near China Chowk has been closed for traffic, and citizens have been advised to use Jinnah Avenue as an alternative route.

Traffic near the Polyclinic Hospital at Lal Quarter Chowk on Luqman Hakeem Road will also be diverted. Commuters have been directed to use Saddar Road instead.

The traffic police further advised citizens traveling from G-6 to F-6 sectors to use the China Chowk Underpass or Seventh Avenue to reach Jinnah Avenue.

Meanwhile, traffic coming from Aabpara Chowk toward Suhrawardy Road near Serena Hotel will be diverted. Citizens traveling from Club Road have been advised to use Kashmir Chowk to access Srinagar Highway and then proceed via Seventh Avenue or Margalla Road.

Similarly, commuters coming from Bhara Kahu have been instructed to use Srinagar Highway and proceed through Kashmir Chowk toward Seventh Avenue and Margalla Road.

The Islamabad Traffic Police has urged citizens to follow the announced traffic plan and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
