Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) nominated candidate Waqar Mehdi has been elected as Senator with vast majority on the vacant seat of Senate from Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The Mutehda Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Nighat Mirza, who contested against Waqar Mehdi, got 36 votes.
A total of 149 voters cast their votes out of which two votes were rejected.
A by-election was being held on the general seat of the Senate in Sindh that fell vacant after the death of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Taj Haider.
