More than 25 people Sunday got ill immediately after consumption of toxic food at a wedding ceremony in Hafizabad, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
The rescuers rushed the wedding food victims to the District Headquarters Hospital. Out of the 25, the majority were reported to be women and children and at least eight people to be in critical condition.
Punjab Food Authority Director General took immediate notice of the incident and the officials, reaching the spot took samples of the food and sent them to the laboratory for testing.
They also inquired the ill about the happenings and said that further action would be taken after the test reports.
