The national campaign to prevent measles and rubella will be launched in the country from November 17 to 29 after an alarming increase in measles cases across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to sources in Ministry of Health, during the 12-day campaign, 35.4 million children aged 6 months to 5 years will be vaccinated against measles.
More than 140,000 public health workers will participate in the campaign.
This year, 9,431 suspected cases of measles were reported across the country while out of the suspected cases, 4,283 cases were confirmed as measles and 57 deaths of children were reported due to measles this year.
Relevant federal agencies will coordinate with the provinces for the campaign.
Fixed centers and mobile teams will participate in the vaccination campaign.
The measles-rubella campaign will be run simultaneously in urban and rural areas.
The campaign aims to provide vaccines to 35.4 million children aged 6 to 59 months.
