Grenades were dropped at the dens of dacoits, while several were demolished and set on fire as police in Khairpur carried out a targeted operation against the dacoits of katcha area on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
SSP Khairpur Hassan Sardar Niazi said that special commandos and APC vehicles were also participating in the operation. “Dozens of dacoits and their facilitators have been arrested,” he said, adding, “Weapons have also been recovered from the suspects.”
The SSP said that on the orders of the police high-ups, the operation against the outlaws would continue.
Two weeks ago, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar chaired an important meeting on law and order in Sukkur range.
The meeting reviewed the security situation in Sukkur, Khairpur, and Ghotki districts.
IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, DIG Sukkur Faisal Abdullah Chachar, SSPs of Sukkur, Ghotki, and Khairpur, and other police officials attended the meeting.
DIG Sukkur provided a detailed briefing on the law and order situation.
The home minister directed that an effective action should be taken against criminals and dacoits, emphasizing that the operation in rural areas should be intensified.
He also directed that facilitators of criminals be brought to justice.
Lanjar directed that targeted operations be conducted based on intelligence in all districts of the police range, emphasizing that protecting public life and property is the government’s top priority.
He stressed that a zero-tolerance policy would be implemented against anti-peace elements.
The minister vowed to continue efforts until all districts of Sindh are crime free, reaffirming his commitment to maintaining law and order in the province.
