President, PM reaffirm unwavering support for Jammu & Kashmir people

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for people of Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle for self-determination, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In their messages on Jammu Martyrs’ Day on Thursday, they called upon the international community and the United Nations to recognize the Jammu massacre as genocide and hold India accountable for its continuing violations of international law.

The President, in his message, said India's attempts to alter the demographic composition of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are in contravention of the Geneva Conventions.

He said the Kashmiris across the world mark this day to remember the martyrs of Jammu and the unarmed civilians who were slaughtered for their faith and identity.

The Prime Minister, in his message, said India is guilty of protracted violation of fundamental human rights, right to self-determination and International Law.

He said in November 1947, the Indian forces and extremists brutally tortured and massacred thousands of Kashmiris in genocidal attempt to change the demographic and religious majority of Kashmiri population.

Shehbaz Sharif said, today, the Government of Pakistan and the people of Pakistan pay heartfelt tribute to the valued sacrifices of Kashmiri brothers and sisters.
