Tropical cyclone ‘Shakti’, which had developed in the Arabian Sea and had caused an alarm in Karachi and other coastal areas of Sindh a few days back due to the strength it gained, has now further weakened, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
It is expected that the storm, which currently lies 910 kilometers south-west of Karachi, will turn into a depression during the next 24 hours.
However, it is still expected to produce rains and winds in the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan today.
On the other hand, fishermen have been advised not to go deep into the sea until tomorrow.
Cyclone Shakti is the first named tropical cyclone of the post-monsoon season in the Arabian Sea.
It developed from a low-pressure system that emerged off the northeast Arabian Sea, gaining strength due to warm waters and favourable atmospheric conditions.
