The International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation, presently on a visit to Pakistan, would today be given a briefing on the macro-effects of the new tariff policy so that it could assess its macro-effects, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
The federal government has only recently issued a five-year (2025-2030) national tariff policy, the purpose of which is to enhance exports by 10 per cent to 14 per cent annually and to apply brakes to imports.
According to the reforms, the government has introduced under the tariff policy, additional customs duties will be abolished in four years, while regulatory duties in five years.
Similarly, the percentage of customs duties will be restricted to 15.
Pakistan and the IMF are presently holding second review negotiations under the $7 billion loan programme.
Similarly, first review talks under the climate financing are also being held at the same time.
