Customs officials at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of silver from Dubai on Saturday, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to customs officials, a passenger arriving on a commercial flight was caught carrying seven kilograms of silver during a security search.
The suspect, identified as Muhammad Shafiq, a resident of Okara, was arrested after officials discovered the silver ingeniously concealed in the form of a specially designed jacket worn beneath his shirt.
Customs officials revealed that the consignment was worth more than Rs 2.6 million in the local market.
The officials stated that Shafiq had no legal documentation to justify possession of the precious metal, which he intended to sell in the Pakistani market.
A case has been registered against him, and further inquiries are underway to determine whether the smuggling attempt was part of a larger network.
