Crime Control Department (CCD) has refuted claims that the powers of the department have been curtailed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
CCD spokesperson clarified that there is no truth that the powers of CCD have been curbed, adding that such rumors are aimed at demoralizing the performance of CCD officers and officials.
He said there is no such proposal under consideration to reduce CCD's powers as the department was receiving wide acceptance from the public and high government circles.
According to CCD spokesperson, officers and officials were working day and night to crack down on serious and organized crimes. He also said that the crime rate in Punjab has come down significantly due to the vigorous action taken by CCD against criminal elements.
CCD has created a sense of security among the public for the first time and the department's reputation cannot be tarnished by spreading false propaganda.
At last the spokesman said that a strict action will be taken under the Cyber Act against those spreading false propaganda about reduction in powers.
