Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Tuesday held an important virtual meeting with international investors, emphasizing that Pakistan’s economy is stabilizing and reforms are progressing across key sectors.
More than 250 global investors participated in the session, which was conducted in collaboration with Jefferies Financial Group. During the interaction, the minister outlined the government’s ongoing reform agenda, stating that significant steps are being taken to improve the tax system, as well as to restructure the energy sector, government institutions and public expenditure.
Aurangzeb reassured investors of Pakistan’s commitment to timely repayment of external debts, noting that recent Eurobond repayments were carried out in an orderly manner. He said the country offers vast investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, minerals, energy and port development.
Highlighting growing economic activity, the finance minister pointed out that operations at ports, including Gwadar Port, are picking up pace. He added that the government is taking steps to position Pakistan as a regional logistics hub.
The minister said global investors are increasingly gaining confidence in Pakistan’s economy, with improved economic indicators and reform measures receiving appreciation. He also revealed that the government is exploring new financial avenues, including Panda Bonds, and is preparing for the issuance of Eurobonds and Sukuk.
Additionally, Aurangzeb noted that work is underway to develop a regulatory framework for digital finance and virtual assets, signaling Pakistan’s intent to modernize its financial system.
