Taking an important decision to ensure implementation of austerity measures in the wake of Iran war, the Balochistan government on Tuesday ordered the return of official vehicles currently in use by unauthorized persons, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The decision was taken at a meeting held to review implementation of the austerity measures.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, who chaired the meeting, ordered that former governors, former chief ministers, former ministers, ex-MPAs and ex- senior officials be asked to return these vehicles, and in case they refused to return them, action should be taken against them.
“There will be an audit of all vehicles,” the chief minister said.
It was also decided that the use of official vehicles for the discharge of official functions after the office timings will depend on the permission granted by a competent authority.
The meeting decided that trackers would be installed in all vehicles.
Apart from that, there would be a complete ban on travelling to other provinces on these vehicles.
Furthermore, there would be a strict monitoring of these vehicles within the city with the help of safe city cameras.
The meeting approved the auction of official vehicle in phases as well as their rationalization.
CM Bugti also made it clear that the waste of resources would not be tolerated at any cost, and that indiscriminate action would be taken against those using official vehicles unnecessarily and without authorization.
