PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Friday called for putting the house in order and a single line of action over Kashmir, saying the issue was a challenge not only for Pakistan but also for Ummah and the entire world.
He said Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had laid the foundation of Pakistan’s atomic programme in 1970s and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who opted for the nuclear tests in 1998 culminated it.
Nawaz did not make any compromise despite the threats and the $5 billion offer to make Pakistan a nuclear power, Shehbaz said and added that the credit went to everyone in making the programme a success.
Addressing the AJK Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad, the PML-N president said the butcher of Gujarat had revoked the status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year, imposing a lockdown in the entire territory since then.
But, he added, AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider was right in saying that the people of Kashmir were under siege for the last 72 years.
Citing the example of German unification despite all the odds and resistance, he said the Kashmiris too would be able to achieve their goal which required a joint action and persistent efforts. Kashmir will surely become Pakistan but it requires unity, Shehbaz stressed.
The Modi must be exposed before the world, Shehbaz said but noted that Pakistan would have to be made stronger so that it could pursue the case. “We have to put our house in order.”
He said Pakistan’s currency was weaker than other smaller nations in the region despite being a nuclear power.
