A massive fire broke out in a lunda clothes factory in Landhi Processing Zone area of Karachi on Thursday was still raging and has now spread to the adjacent building, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As many as 16 fire-brigade vehicles and two bowsers were busy in trying to douse the strong flames coming out of the windows of many storeys of the factory of lunda clothes.
According to the fire-brigade officials, they immediately dispatched teams to the site after receiving information about the fire.

Many of the trapped workers were able to flee the building by climbing down an electric pole. Those stuck inside were being rescued by bulldozing the basement’s wall with the help of a crane, but the fire-fighters were facing difficulties due to the thick smoke.

Seven workers were injured in the incident who were shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
Part of the factory collapsed due to the huge inferno which resulted in injuries to many workers who were rushed to hospital in Edhi ambulances.

The fire which started in the basement of the factory did not budge at any time and later worsened and its flames engulfed another building, and fire-fighters were expressing fear that the blaze might spread to more buildings.
CM Murad takes notice
Taking notice, Sindh Chief Minister directed fire brigade and rescue teams to take all-out steps for the safety of human lives.
He also ordered Commissioner Karachi to probe the incident. Murad Ali Shah made it clear that factory workers and owner will be supported.
Earlier, Sindh CM was briefed about the incident. He was told that large number of workers were working on the fifth storey of the factory when the fire incident occurred and rescue teams rescued all the staff.
The CM Sindh lauded the performance of rescue teams.
