A 10-year-old boy was allegedly strangled to death by a man over a minor dispute involving damage to a freshly sown paddy crop in the Badshahpur area of Malakwal, police said.

According to a complaint filed with Malakwal police, Shahid Imran, a resident of Badshahpur, said his son Yasir Khan was on his way to his grandfather’s house when the accused, identified as Ainul Hasnain Gondal, stopped him.

The complainant alleged that the accused began beating the child after accusing him of damaging his freshly sown paddy crop.

He told police that the accused then strangled Yasir, causing his death, before fleeing the scene.

Malakwal police registered a murder case against the accused under Section 302 and launched efforts to arrest him.

Police said the child’s body was handed over to the family after completion of the postmortem examination.
