Pakistani singer and actor Danyal Zafar has finally addressed the viral 'Chhota Bheem' discussion surrounding his drama serial Zanjeerain, revealing why he suggested removing the cartoon's name from one of the scenes before it aired.
During an exclusive fan session on Discord, Danyal shared an interesting behind the scenes story, explaining that the original script included a direct reference to the popular animated series ‘Chhota Bheem’. However, he felt the dialogue might not resonate with every viewer.
Recalling the moment, Danyal said the scene revolved around the cartoon and one of its characters before transitioning into the actual dialogue.
"We were shooting a scene, and the script mentioned Chhota Bheem. The dialogue started with, 'I used to watch a cartoon called Chhota Bheem,' before moving into the actual conversation. But I thought, 'I've lived through my childhood, and I never watched Chhota Bheem.' During my childhood, it was mostly Cartoon Network and a completely different era."
He added that while many viewers would immediately understand the reference, others who had never watched the cartoon might feel disconnected from the conversation.
"I didn't know how many people would actually relate to it, so I suggested we skip mentioning the name and simply continue with the story. Those who know the cartoon would still understand the reference, while those who don't wouldn't feel left out."
Interestingly, the discussion around the Chhota Bheem reference had already surfaced online before the episode was broadcast, with fans debating the dialogue after behind the scenes details began circulating on social media.
Danyal's explanation has now given viewers a clearer understanding of the creative decision, with many praising the actor for prioritising a dialogue that could connect with a wider audience rather than relying on a specific pop-culture reference.
Currently airing on Hum TV, Zanjeerain has generated considerable buzz for its gripping storyline and Danyal Zafar's performance, with behind the scenes revelations continuing to keep fans engaged beyond the episodes themselves.
