Flood-hit Kalam–Desan Meadows Road has been restored after a four-day operation, while the PMD forecasts rain in several regions, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to the reports, the flood-damaged Kalam–Desan Meadows Road in Upper Swat has been restored after four days of continuous efforts, allowing the safe recovery of more than 15 vehicles belonging to stranded tourists and local residents.
The restoration operation, carried out by the Upper Swat Development Authority, of the Kalam–Desan Meadows Road after a four-day operation has reopened the route for traffic as monsoon-related weather conditions continue across different parts of Pakistan.
Heavy machinery remained engaged in removing debris and repairing the road, which has now been reopened for all types of traffic.
The Kalam–Desan Meadows Road was closed on August 3, 2026, after a sudden flash flood struck the area, leaving several tourists and local residents stranded in Desan Meadows. Immediately after the incident, all stranded tourists were safely rescued. However, their vehicles remained stuck in the area due to the closure of the road.
Meanwhile, the monsoon spell continues across Pakistan, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the country today.
According to the PMD, Islamabad will remain hot during the daytime, with temperatures likely to rise to 36 degrees Celsius. However, rain is expected again this evening as monsoon activity continues over the federal capital.
The weather department has also forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir during the day. In Gilgit-Baltistan, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy, with rain likely at isolated places.
In Balochistan, most districts are expected to experience hot and dry weather, according to the Meteorological Department.
The maximum temperature recorded in Quetta was 35 degrees Celsius, while Qalat recorded 31 degrees Celsius. Ziarat recorded a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, while Zhob recorded 34 degrees Celsius.
The highest temperatures were recorded in Sibi at 44 degrees Celsius and Turbat at 42 degrees Celsius. Nokundi recorded 41 degrees Celsius, while Chaman recorded 36 degrees Celsius.
In the coastal areas of Balochistan, Gwadar recorded a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, while Jiwani recorded 33 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Karachi is expected to experience mostly cloudy skies and humid weather throughout the day. The PMD has forecast the possibility of light drizzle during the night and early morning hours.
According to the weather department, the minimum temperature recorded in Karachi today was 27.7 degrees Celsius, while the current temperature stands at 39 degrees Celsius.
The humidity level in the city has been recorded at 71 percent, while southwesterly winds are blowing at a speed of 16 kilometers per hour.
The PMD has forecast that Karachi's maximum temperature is likely to remain between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius today.
Overall, the monsoon spell continues across Pakistan, with rain expected in Islamabad during the evening, thunderstorms likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, partly cloudy weather with rain expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, hot and dry conditions in most parts of Balochistan, and mostly cloudy weather with a chance of light drizzle in Karachi.
