Former federal minister Humayun Akhtar Khan has said that the federal and Punjab governments should focus on developing the backward districts.
“The people are entitled to development without discrimination,” he said during his visit to the NA-97 constituency.
He added: “I am saddened by the backwardness seen in the constituency, but instead of being disappointed, I will become the voice of the local people and solve their problems.”
The former federal minister met local notables and extended his condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.
However, he urged the people to wake up to the matter and question those who are responsible for the deprivations of the youth.
He listed his feats including the approval of Maridwala Interchange, the construction of the road from Zafar Chowk to Chak No 516 and the progress in providing electricity to the additional population in Chak 509 GB.
He said: “We are raising our voice for the solution of the smallest and biggest problems of the people. This is not a favour to anyone, but it is our duty because politics is the name of serving the people.”
