The long-speculated “iPhone Fold” appears to be moving from rumour to reality, with reports suggesting the device has entered its final engineering and pre-production phase after years of development.

According to Economic Daily News, Apple has finalised the design of its first foldable iPhone, and supply chain insiders confirm the company has moved beyond experimental stages and is now fine-tuning the final details. The shift indicates a possible global launch by late 2026.

One of the standout features of the iPhone Fold is its reported display technology. Insiders claim Apple has developed a solution to eliminate the visible crease commonly found in existing foldable devices, potentially setting a new benchmark for the segment. The handset is also expected to come with premium materials and advanced cooling technology similar to the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro.

The company has been working on its foldable prototype for more than five years. Trial production has already begun, with suppliers stockpiling components in preparation for mass orders. Industry estimates suggest Apple could ship 7–9 million units in the first year, capturing up to 40% of the global foldable market and outperforming Samsung, Huawei, Motorola and other established players.

Key suppliers include Samsung for display panels, TSMC for processors, and Shin Zu Shing for hinge components. If trial runs proceed smoothly, mass production could begin before the end of 2025, paving the way for an official release the following year.

As the launch window approaches, more detailed leaks are expected as Apple’s supply chain gears up for one of its most anticipated products in recent years.
