Azkaar-o-Afkaar Academy Pakistan held an awards ceremony to honour writers and poets from across the country for their literary contributions, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the report, the event celebrated both emerging and established voices, while also paying tribute to the enduring legacy of renowned literary figure Sahir Lucknavi.
Speaking at the ceremony, noted scholar Maulana Hasan Zafar Naqvi said the academy not only highlights the literary services of Sahir Lucknavi but also encourages new and dedicated writers.
Maulana Hasan Zafar Naqvi added that the annual event has become a tradition aimed at keeping Lucknavi’s intellectual legacy alive.
Jazib Sabir, an intellectual from Layyah, received the first-position award for his distinguished work.
Danish Mehdi, son of Sahir Lucknavi, welcomed the guests, while several literary personalities, including Bilal Naqvi, Raza Daudani, Wajid Ali Shah, Kausar Naqvi, Rajab Ali Bangash and Sajjad Shafi, offered tributes to Lucknavi’s lifelong contributions.
A poem was also recited by Zulfiqar Naqvi.
Awards and honours were presented to a wide range of writers, poets, academics and cultural contributors, including Akhtar Asif Zaidi, Aqeel Abbas Jafri, Shagufta Dilshad, the late Syed Khurram Zaki, Prof Imran Zafar Hussain Raza, Jasim M Hussain, Imam Mehdi, Dr Muhammad Fiza Kazmi, Farhan Raza, Syeda Fakhra Shirazi, Dr Faizuddin, Ali Akbar Naatiq, Syed Maseeb Rizvi, Syed Baqar Naqvi, Syed Nisar Ali Zaidi and Syedullah Haider.
