Music legend Cher is reportedly preparing to walk down the aisle again — this time with her partner of three years, Alexander “AE” Edwards — as she approaches her 80th birthday in May.
According to a report by The Mirror, the 79-year-old superstar is expected to marry the 39-year-old music executive next year. Despite their 40-year age gap, the couple is said to be fully committed and ready to formalise their relationship.
An insider quoted by the outlet said Cher “doesn’t give a hoot” about the age difference, adding that turning 80 feels like “the perfect moment for her and Alexander to seal the deal.”
Cher, who was previously married to Sonny Bono and later Greg Allman, has often brushed aside criticism of the relationship. In an interview on CBS Mornings last month, she dismissed public chatter with a casual “Whatever,” emphasising that outsiders don’t understand their dynamic.
“Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast,” she told host Gayle King. She added that Edwards has always embraced the age gap, telling her that “your spirit is younger” even as you age.
The pair has been together for around three years, with Cher frequently praising Edwards’ talent and personality. “I just love him,” she said, calling him “one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
Cher and Edwards first sparked dating rumours in late 2022, when the singer publicly defended their relationship on social media. They made their red-carpet debut in March 2023 at the Versace fall show.
While neither has commented on wedding plans, reports suggest the couple is ready to make their union official in the coming year.
