One accused was killed, and two dacoits were arrested during two police encounters in Lahore and Shikarpur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The first police encounter took place in the Bund Road area of Lahore.
The Crime Control Department (CCD) police of Iqbal Town said that the accused, identified as Asghar, was being taken for recovery.
Suddenly, some accomplices of the accused attacked the CCD team in a bid to free him from police custody.
During the exchange of fire, the accused came under severe fire and died on the spot. The accomplices of the accused escaped from the scene, taking advantage of the darkness.
The CCD team shifted the dead body of the accused to the mortuary for a post-mortem.
In another police encounter in Shikarpur, two notorious dacoits were arrested in an injured condition in the Punj Meal area in the jurisdiction of Naparkot Police Station.
According to details, a citizen, Qayyum Pehwar, informed the police that six dacoits were riding on snatching motorcycles.
The police team cordoned off the Pung Meal area. After noticing the police team, the dacoits started firing.
During the exchange of fire, two dacoits were arrested in an injured condition.
The dacoits were identified as Khalid Dosani Jatoi and Altaf, also known as Artu Dosani Jatoi. Police also recovered five kilograms of hashish, a snatched motorcycle, and arms from their possession.
Dosani Jatoi was involved in the attack on Sardar Ghalib Doomki and the murder of two guards. Four accomplices of the dacoits fled to the Kucha area.
SSP Shikarpur Shahzaib Chachar lauded the performance of the police team and announced rewards for them.
