Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to launch a mass contact campaign for the local government elections, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
According to sources, the premier issued directives to carve out a schedule for the campaign while chairing a government spokespersons meeting that mulled over preparations for the local bodies' polls.
Imran Khan asked the members to revamp the party structure for the purpose and insisted on maintaining merit for ticket distribution. The PTI is a popular party and the people have pinned hope on it, he said, adding that the party PTI will enter the field with full force.
Federal Minister Asad Umar and Special Assistant Khalid Mansoor briefed the participants about the China visit and development plans. China stands by Pakistan, Asad said, adding that Beijing will assist Islamabad in promoting the industrial sector and agriculture.
PM Imran Khan said: “We are caught up in the politics of locals and thieves. Pakistan’s efforts for betterment are being recognized globally. He said he would visit Russia at the invitation of the Russian president. He mentioned allegations of corruption levelled at Shehbaz Sharif.
