The Balochistan government on Friday imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) across the province.
The move came hours before the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was scheduled to take out protest rallies against the vote rigging in the general elections of February 8, 2024.
According to a notification issued by Balochistan’s Home Department, there will be a complete ban on display and use of weapons. Sit-ins, processions and gatherings of five or more people will not be allowed for the next 15 days.
According to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, Section 144 has been imposed in the province to maintain the law and order and protect people’s lives and properties.
