In the six months of this financial year, the budget deficit has reached 1537 billion rupees. The budget deficit from July to December 2024 was negative 1.2 percent of GDP.
The Ministry of Finance has released the half-yearly fiscal operation report. The total income from July to December was 9763 billion rupees.
The total expenditure in six months was Rs11301 billion. The report said the tax revenue from July to December was Rs6067 billion. Meanwhile, the federal government collected 5624 billion rupees and the provinces collected 442 billion rupees in taxes. In six months, the non-tax income was 3696 billion rupees, the report said.
Rs5141 billion were spent on interest payments from July to December while Rs890 billion rupees were spent on defense in six months, the report added.
