The Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Saturday officially unveiled the name and logo of its new Hyderabad-based franchise, which will compete in the league’s 11th season as the Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
The franchise was launched during a ceremony held at Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, where team owner Fawad Sarwar announced the full name and revealed the official logo.
The PSL also shared the branding through its social media platforms.
The unveiling ceremony began with a tribute to the martyrs of the Islamabad incident, during which participants observed a one-minute silence.
Team management said the gesture was meant to honour those who lost their lives.
Addressing the gathering, franchise owner Fawad Sarwar said he belonged to Hyderabad and had taken this step for the city and its people.
“My parents always taught me to keep working hard,” Sarwar said. “I promise I will not disappoint you and will raise Hyderabad’s head with pride.”
He thanked residents for the overwhelming support, adding that he had not anticipated such a warm response.
Sarwar acquired the Hyderabad franchise for Rs175 crore as part of the PSL’s expansion plan.
The Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen are one of two new teams added for PSL Season 11, with the league expanding from six to eight franchises.
The other new team is Sialkot Stallions, whose name was announced earlier.
