Abubakar/Nael grab men’s doubles title in National Ranking Tennis Championship

Abubakar Talha and Ahmad Nael Qureshi captured the men’s doubles title with a straight-sets victory at the 11th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Championship 2025 at the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Complex in Islamabad.
The top-performing pair of Abubakar and Nael overcame Barkatullah and Yousaf Khalil 6-3, 6-4 in a well-contested final to seal the championship title, displaying composure and consistency throughout the match. In the ladies’ singles final, Mahin Aftab Qureshi delivered a commanding performance to claim the title, defeating Soha Ali 6-1, 6-1. Mahin dominated proceedings from the outset, using her aggressive baseline play and sharp court coverage to secure the championship in emphatic fashion.
The men’s singles final will be contested today (Wednesday), with seasoned campaigner Aqeel Khan set to face Muzammil Murtaza in the final, scheduled for 1:30 pm. Both players advanced after convincing semifinal victories, setting the stage for a high-quality showdown.
In the men’s singles semifinals, Aqeel Khan outclassed Muhammad Shoaib 6-4, 6-0, while Muzammil Murtaza edged past Yousaf Khalil 6-1, 7-6 (9) in a closely fought contest.
Junior categories also produced exciting results. In the boys’ U18 singles semifinals, Abubakar Talha defeated Ahtesham Humayun 7-6 (5), 1-0 (retired), while Hamza Roman beat Hassan Usmani 6-4, 7-5. In the girls’ U14 singles final, Aimen Rehan showcased resilience to overcome Khadija Khalil 6-7 (6), 6-0, 6-2 after dropping the opening set.
Meanwhile, the boys’ U14 semifinals saw Muhammad Junaid defeat Ohad Mustafa 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, while Muhammad Muaz recorded a comfortable 6-0, 6-3 win over Ibraheem Gill. In the boys’ U12 semifinals, M Ayan beat Behroze Mamoon 4-2, 4-0, and M Daniyal defeated Majid Ali 4-0, 4-2.
