Pakistani cinema has caused a storm internationally as one of the popular latest movies, Nayab and Deemak, have bagged significant awards at the prestigious Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Film Festival organized in China’s Chongqing.
The film Nayab, revolving around the story of a middle-class girl who aspires to make it big in the competitive world of cricket, starring Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan, achieved the Jury Special Award out of 19 films in competition from SCO member states, director Umair Nasir Ali shared.
“Alhumdulilah ???????? NAYAB wins Jury Special Award at SCO Film Festival Chinqong CHINA. Out of 19 films in competition from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states: China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, Nayab was honored with the Jury Special Award. The jury, composed of distinguished representatives from all SCO nations, recognized Nayab for its exceptional artistic merit, original storytelling, and directorial excellence,” the director added in the caption of the latest Instagram upload featuring him with accolades in hands.
On the other hand, Deemak, another celebrated film in Pakistan, starring acclaimed actors Faisal Qureshi, Samina Peerzada, and Sonya Hussayn, won the award for Best Editing.
Taking to his Instagram handle, the director Rafay Rashdi shared the victorious moment of winning the award, also labelled it as “historic win for Pakistani cinema on an international stage.”
