Asma Abbas has addressed the reaction to her recent comments about marriage later in life.
She said in a video message that her views were taken out of context and urged people to listen to her complete statement before sharing their own opinions.
Asma said many people had been commenting on her earlier remarks, with some mentioning her sister's marriage and others asking whether she was speaking from personal experience.
She explains that short clips often miss the full context of what she intended to say.
The veteran said she believes marriage after the age of 60 can be a wonderful experience because couples are no longer burdened with the responsibilities of raising children.
Asma added that if someone is fortunate enough to find a genuinely kind and caring life partner, they should not hesitate to marry.
Referring to the husbands of her sister Bushra Ansari and veteran actress Samina Ahmad, she described them as "diamonds," saying such people are rare to find.
"Stones are common, but diamonds are not," she remarked.
Concluding her message, Asma shared the value of companionship in old age.
She said having a spouse later in life means having someone to care for you, remind you to take your medication and offer support when it is needed the most.
Asma Abbas is one of Pakistan's most respected television actresses, known for her performances in numerous hit dramas.
She is also the younger sister of Bushra Ansari and has often spoken openly about family, relationships and life's experiences
