The District Education Authority (DEA) has recommended sealing 213 unregistered private schools as authorities step up their crackdown on educational institutions operating without mandatory registration, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to officials, the DEA has forwarded a summary to the district administration seeking action against the schools.
The move marked a significant escalation in efforts to enforce registration rules for private educational institutions across the city.
According to the authorities, a formal campaign has been launched against schools that have failed to obtain registration despite repeated directives.
They warned that additional institutions found violating the regulations or ignoring official orders would also face sealing.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Education Tariq Mahmood said final warning notices had already been issued to 744 private schools, directing them to complete the registration process.
However, a considerable number of institutions have yet to fulfil the legal requirements.
He said the crackdown on unregistered private schools would continue without discrimination, adding that all educational institutions must comply with the relevant laws and regulations to avoid legal action.
