Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday expressed concern over the current political situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and emphasized that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and political engagement, following a high-level meeting of the party's parliamentary leadership in Islamabad.
The meeting, held at Zardari House and chaired by Bilawal, brought together senior PPP leaders, ministers, lawmakers and former prime ministers from AJK to review the region's political and administrative affairs and discuss the party's future strategy.
According to participants, Bilawal received detailed briefings on recent developments in AJK and held extensive consultations with the parliamentary leadership on governance matters and the overall political environment.
During the meeting, the PPP chairman stressed the need for dialogue to address political challenges and directed party leaders to work towards resolving all issues through consultation and democratic processes.
Sources said Bilawal also decided to brief Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the situation in AJK and present the concerns and recommendations discussed during the meeting.
The session was attended by AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, acting AJK President Chaudhry Latif Akbar, senior PPP leader Faryal Talpur, former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Yaqoob Khan, cabinet members, legislators, and other senior party officials.
Participants reviewed a range of political and administrative matters affecting AJK and discussed measures aimed at ensuring political stability, effective governance, and party unity in the region.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue consultations on key developments in Azad Kashmir, with Bilawal expected to engage the federal leadership on the issues raised during the discussions.
