A groom was shot and injured, allegedly by his bride’s cousin, shortly after his wedding ceremony in the Khurrianwala area of Faisalabad, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to initial reports, Saifullah had arrived in Chak No. 106-RB, Khurrianwala, with his wedding procession.
The nikah ceremony and wedding meal were completed without any reported incident.
After the ceremony, Saifullah went out for a walk with a friend when the bride’s cousin, identified as Sambal, allegedly opened fire on him.
The groom sustained gunshot injuries, while the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Rescue personnel shifted the injured groom to Allied Hospital for medical treatment.
His condition was not immediately known.
Police said a search operation had been launched to arrest the suspect and determine the motive behind the shooting.
Further investigation is underway.
