The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four individuals during a series of operations in Lahore, targeting alleged involvement in hawala-hundi networks and violations of copyright laws, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the sources, the raids were conducted by the Corporate Crime Circle Lahore, resulting in the detention of suspects identified as Shahid Ilyas and Shahid Nazir.
The two were allegedly found to be involved in illegal currency exchange activities.
Authorities reported the recovery of 20.4 million Pakistani rupees from the suspects, along with foreign currency including 1,080 US dollars, 320 Australian dollars, 4,015 United Arab Emirates dirhams, 85 British pounds, and 160 Saudi riyals.
Officials further stated that documentary and digital evidence related to hawala-hundi operations was also seized during the raids.
In a separate action, two additional suspects, Noor-ul-Mujtaba and Arsalan Imtiaz, were arrested on charges related to violations of copyright laws.
The FIA said a large quantity of counterfeit products belonging to well-known registered companies was recovered from their possession.
According to the agency sources, the suspects were allegedly involved in storing and selling fake branded goods in the local market.
