Cricket teams stranded in India following their participation in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 are set to return to their home countries after the International Cricket Council (ICC) arranged special charter flights for their departure amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
According to media reports, the national teams of England cricket team, South Africa national cricket team and West Indies cricket team will travel back home through chartered aircraft provided by the ICC.
The England team, which was eliminated from the tournament after losing the semi-final against the India national cricket team, is scheduled to depart from Mumbai for London later tonight.
Meanwhile, the West Indies and South African teams will leave India through separate charter flights departing from Kolkata.
Media reports said the West Indies team had been stranded in Kolkata for nearly six days after playing their final match of the tournament.
The South African squad was also unable to leave the city after suffering a semi-final defeat to the New Zealand national cricket team.
The ICC’s decision to arrange special charter flights has provided relief to the teams.
