Young and talented Pakistani actress Aina Asif clarified her recent statement regarding depression and Namaz.
The 'Judwa' actress appeared at 'Something Haute’s' YouTube Show, where she clarified her viral statement about depression that she delivered in a previous show.
Talking about it, Aina Asif said, “We usually talk more about the topics we could relate to, and I took part in that debate because I could relate to the topic being discussed by the host. However, I do feel that my wording could have been better. What I wanted to say is that talking about depression and therapy is still a taboo topic in Pakistan. It is a courageous thing to ask for help, and when you go to a psychiatrist who tells you that your belief in Allah is weak, you instantly start feeling inferior, as if Allah doesn’t love you.
"As a Muslim, it’s humiliating to hear that, especially when you’re already doing your best as a Muslim. Only you know your relationship with Allah. Also, when we get sick, we need both prayers and treatment; they go hand in hand, and people with mental health issues can’t do daily life chores well.”
Aina and her fellow colleagues, Samar Jafry and the cast of their ongoing drama serial 'Parwarish', appeared in Nida Yasir's morning show 'Good Morning Pakistan' for the promotion of their drama.
During their appearance and talk about the drama storyline, the topic of depression was stirred.
They were actually talking about the increasing rate of depression patients, especially the youth and what the reason behind it, what would be it's result and how can we overcome it as well as what role parents should play in their children's life according to the current generation trends.
Talking about her popular drama serial 'Mayi Ri' whose story was based on child labor and early marriage and it's aftermath, she said, "A lot of people on social media are like 'Oh my God, she is being exploited' which is not the case. My parents are always like if you don't want to work, don't, They never forced me to do but I love acting, I love my craft so much.
The host asked, "Where does this love come from?"
Aina replied, "I don't know, it's a blessing for me to portray different lives, to see them and make them happen and being worthy enough to come to the screen again and again.
