Terrorists attacked the camp of an oil and gas company in Dera Ismail Khan. They martyred two policemen and injured another two during their assault, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to police, terrorists in the dead of the night made their foray into the camp and attacked the police officials deputed to perform security duty at the Haji Oil and Gas Company. They martyred two of the security officials while another two suffered critical injuries.
The martyred cops were identified as Rehmat Elahi and Khan Arif who were residents of Dera City and Paharpur.
Among the injured, one Fazlur Rahman Shah was in critical condition and the other one, SI Alam Sher, was shot in the head and face.
This is the fifth attack on police this week in Dera Ismail Khan.
On November 3, a bomb blast targeting police killed six people in Dera Ismail Khan.
The bomb exploded close to the route of a police patrol in the city. Six people were killed and 21 injured in the blast, said rescue official Aizaz Mehmood, but he was not able to provide a break-up of police and civilians.
As per reports, when the injured victims were being transported to the hospital, unknown persons opened fire on police officers present there.
On Sunday night, terrorists attacked a post in the vicinity of Gul Imam police station in Tank area of D.I. Khan. But the attack was repelled.
According to a police spokesman, militants stormed the checkpost with heavy weapons, adding that police promÂptly retaliated and in an ensuing exchange of fire Constable Waheed Gul received injuries.
The firing continued for about an hour and a half. The attack was repulsed and the militants fled, police said.
Earlier, on Sunday evening, another constable sustained injuries in an attack on a post in the Roori area within the limits of Kulachi police station.
Police said an exchange of fire continued for 20 minutes during which attackers used small and heavy weapons. He said Constable Mir Aslam sustained injuries but his condition was out of danger.
Police contingents rushed to the post in order to assist the personnel deployed there, but the attackers managed to flee.
The terrorist attacks in Pakistan have increased since the end of the ceasefire by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022. However, the recent swift uptick in attacks against Pakistan security forces could be seen after the government's decision to expel illegal Afghan nationals from Pakistan.
