Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dato’ Muhammad Azhar Mazlan, on Friday said that relations between Pakistan and Malaysia have strengthened.
He said the volume of bilateral trade stands at 1.4 billion dollars and both countries are striving to further enhance it. He was giving a briefing at Malaysian High Comission in Islamabad. At High Commission, a 'briefing over HiTea' was organized to highlight the growing relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.
While briefing the participants, Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan stated that the relationship between the two countries has become more stable. He added that the bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and Malaysia is 1.4 billion dollars, and both nations are working to increase it.
Dato’ Mazlan mentioned that the two countries are cooperating in several sectors, including palm oil, education, rice, telecommunications and human development. He said the Pakistani community in Malaysia numbers around 160,000, including over 3,800 Pakistani students.
The High Commissioner also informed that Malaysia annually imports more than 600,000 metric tons of rice from Pakistan. Malaysian companies are actively engaged in palm oil processing in Karachi, the power sector in Lahore, and the installation of telecom towers.
Before the briefing, documentary videos showcasing Malaysia’s corporate development were also screened.
