Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved an additional grant of Rs4500 million for the purchase of tear gas shells, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to the details, currently, the Punjab police have 27,400 tear gas shells in its stock to disperse protestors.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar sought an additional grant of Rs420 million for the purchase of 1,00,000 tear gas shells.
Punjab police used a huge quantity of tear gas shells due to different protests in the province during the last two years.
Police officials said that the process to purchase new tear gas shells will start soon after receiving the funds.
