Showing concern over the stealing of solar panels from schools of the province, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Punjab Assembly (PA), which met with Malik Tanveer Aslam in the chair on Sunday, directed the police to carry out an investigation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The committee was briefed about the audit report, compiled by the Education Authorities, which disclosed that solar panels were stolen from the schools of Punjab between 2022 and 2023, thus exposing the performance of the Department of School Education.
It was informed that solar panels were stolen from 50 schools of Rajanpur alone.
The Ministry of Education officials, present on the occasion, shifted all the blame onto the shoulders of the District Health Authority.
They also informed the committee that FIRs had been registered for these incidents.
However, the audit department officials said there was no follow-up on these FIRs and that the District Education Authority failed to prevent the theft of solar panels.
