Different parts of the country received showers on Sunday at the start of the 10th spell of monsoon rains as the Met Office forecast more showers for different cities of Punjab and Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
It rained in Lahore, Islamabad and other parts of Punjab.
It also rained in different cities of Sindh namely Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Thatta, Tharparkar, Mithi and Nangarparkar.
Lahore receives showers
Heavy rain lashed different parts of Lahore, which turned the weather pleasant.
Rain was reported from Township, Model Town, The Mall, Jail Road, Davis Road, Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Dharampura, Mughalpura and other localities of the Punjab capital.
Rain lashes Islamabad
Intermittent rainfall in and around Islamabad since early in the morning resulted in a drop in temperatures.
Rain leaves Lala Musa drenched
Torrential rain, accompanied by winds, in Lala Musa led to the inundation of low-lying areas.
However, it provided people a respite from mugginess.
Similarly, Mangla in Azad Jammu and Kashmir received 72 millimeters of rain, Jhelum 40, Murree eight, Multan four, Bahawalpur three, Lahore and Sheikhupura two millimeters each, while Mandi Bahauddin and Narowal one millimeter each.
Showers were also reported from Sialkot, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Okara.
Rain continues in Tharparkar, Umarkot
Different areas of Tharparkar and Umarkot received rain as well.
There were reports of rain from Mithi, Islamkot and Nangarparkar.
91 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Nangarparkar, while 51 millimeters in Mithi.
The Met Office said that the present spell of rain would continue until tonight.
Met Office predicts rain for Sindh, south Punjab, Balochistan
Heavy rains were expected in Karachi, other coastal cities of Sindh, Hyderabad, parts of Balochistan from today until September 10 due to which there are fears of flooding in these cities, the weather department said, adding that rains, accompanied by strong winds, were also likely to lash Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Ahmadpur East, Liaquatpur, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad in southern Punjab.
Regarding the upper and central Punjab, the department said that Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, Jhang, Sargodha and Mianwali were also expected to receive heavy rains.
Similarly, torrential rains over the mountains may trigger landslides and flooding in streams and nullahs.
PDMA’s advisory to people
On the other hand, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Sunday advised people to avoid travelling during inclement weather, stay away from trees, weak structures and electricity poles.
