Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Timothy Kane visited the Lyallpur Museum in Faisalabad, where he took a keen interest in the city’s history, culture and heritage.
Lyallpur Museum Director Maqbool Malik, along with museum officers and staff, warmly welcomed the Australian envoy upon his arrival. During the visit, Malik guided Kane through the museum’s 10 galleries and briefed him on various aspects of the history, civilization, culture, traditions and heritage of Faisalabad and its surrounding areas.
The Australian High Commissioner showed keen interest in the historical artefacts, artworks, antiquities and other cultural exhibits displayed across the galleries. Malik also briefed the commissioner on Faisalabad’s textile heritage and the city’s historical journey from Lyallpur to its present-day identity.
Speaking on the occasion, Kane said museums in Pakistan and Australia could promote mutual cooperation through joint exhibitions, exchanges of experts and cultural programmes.
He also praised the people of Faisalabad for being hospitable, courteous and friendly.
Malik presented the Australian High Commissioner with a commemorative souvenir on behalf of the museum.
