Another 842 coronavirus cases were detected in Pakistan during the past 24 hours, raising the overall number to 283,487, shows the latest data released by National Command and Operation Centre on Saturday morning.
At the same time, 14 more people died of the coronavirus in the country during this period after which the death toll increased to 6,068.
However, this marked and continuous decline both in the number of new cases and deaths is an encouraging sign which cannot be attributed to one single or different factors with surety.
A total of 259,604 people have so far fully recovered from the infection which means 17,815 active cases currently in the country. But 801 of them are in critical condition and being treated in different hospitals.
Meanwhile, the number of tests administered since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak in the country has jumped to 2,103,699 as another 24,366 people were tested for the virus during the past 24 hours.
As far as the regional distribution of the reported coronavirus cases is concerned, Sindh has recorded most of these as the figures for the province currently stands at 123,246. It is followed by Punjab 94,223, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 34,539, Islamabad 15,214, Balochistan 11,835, Gilgit-Baltistan 2,301 and Azad Kashmir 2,129.
Similarly, Sindh has also recorded 2,259 deaths so far followed by 2,166 in Punjab. The figures for other provinces/ regions are: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,222, Islamabad 171, Balochistan 137, Azad Kashmir 58 and Gilgit-Baltistan 55.
