Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif met Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Friday and discussed a raft of issues with him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Matters of mutual interest and the overall political situation prevailing in the country were discussed in the meeting.
On the occasion, Nawaz Sharif said Khawaja Asif was his best friend and companion in difficult times, and they have both gone through thick and thin together.
Khawaja Asif said that whenever the country has faced difficulties, Nawaz Sharif's political insight has supported it.
He said they made sacrifices to get the country out of default as well, and this journey will continue in the future.
According to sources, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif assured Defence Minister Khawaja Asif that he would personally look into the arrest of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) from Sialkot, following the minister’s reservations over the incident.
According to party sources, Khawaja Asif raised his concerns directly with the former prime minister during the meeting, complaining that he had not been informed beforehand about the ADCR’s arrest.
Nawaz Sharif, acknowledging the grievance, assured Asif that he would examine the matter personally and take necessary steps to address the issue.
