China’s chip exports recorded a sharp increase during the first seven months of this year, with integrated circuit exports nearly doubling compared with the same period last year, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

According to Chinese authorities, integrated circuit exports rose 99.5% year-on-year from January to July, reaching a total value of around $216 billion.

Experts attributed the strong growth to advances in technology, improvements in supply chains and growing global demand for artificial intelligence-related products and technologies.

Analysts expected rising international demand for China’s advanced chips to increase competition in the global semiconductor market.

Greater competition could also help reduce the cost of products that rely heavily on semiconductors, including vehicles, smartphones, industrial machinery and other electronic devices.

The sharp rise in exports highlights China’s growing role in the global semiconductor industry despite continuing competition and supply-chain challenges in the sector.
