The Punjab government has introduced new rules and guidelines for theatre dramas across the province, imposing a 14-point policy for regulating performances and promoting cultural values.

Under the new policy, sleeveless and shoulderless outfits have been prohibited in theatre dramas, while theatre administrations have been directed to ensure that costumes and content reflect Punjab’s culture and traditions.

The authorities have also made it mandatory for theatre administrations to submit drama scripts a week before the scheduled performance for review and approval.

Under the new guidelines, a theatre drama will be allowed to feature a maximum of five songs, additional songs and unnecessary stage items will not be permitted.

The authorities have also directed producers and theatre administrations to incorporate public awareness and positive social messages into drama storylines.

The Punjab Council of the Arts has directed theatre administrations to ensure strict compliance with newly introduce14 points policy.
